FORMAL STUDY PROGRAMS: MARINE ENGINEERING - SOUTH AFRICA

The Cape Town Maritime College has been established to offer SAMSA accredited STCW programs at both the Operations level and Management level for South African seafarers.

Our Marine Engineering study program covers the key STCW subjects of:

Marine Engineering Knowledge
Naval Architecture
Business (Legal Knowledge)

The entire academic program is run over a period of 16 weeks, during which time students sit SAMSA moderated examinations leading to a SAMSA A-III/1 qualification [Officer of an Engineering Watch – unlimited], or a SAMSA A-III/3 level II qualification [Chief Engineering Officer – unlimited].

Tuition is provided from our offices in Cape Town, from 07h45 to 15h35 daily, and for working students a blended learning option is available. With this option, students can study whilst they are working, with all classes being recorded and the recordings being uploaded to the learning management system.

Additionally, we have a flexible assessment plan in place to cater for the scheduling of assessments around seagoing schedules.
