OCEANA GROUP PARTNERSHIP - MENTORSHIP AGREEMENT

Cape Town Maritime College has signed an agreement with Oceana Group to manage the mentorship and technical training of their engineering cadets. This partnership aims to ensure that those on the program are equipped with the knowledge and skills that are required to ensure success, through the completion of a series of task books, guided programs and short courses. Feedback is given to Oceana Group at the end of each phase - ensuring the cadets are ready to meet the challenges of tomorrow.

Student Evaluations

Student Evaluations

Description: This service is available to companies that wish to have their students evaluated to see if they are ready for further study or enrolment.

Evaluation: The candidate undertakes a written evaluation at CTMC, and then follows that with an evaluation interview that covers the following key areas: logical reasoning and problem solving, mechanical comprehension, shipboard systems, safety systems, and environmental/operational awareness. A suitability report is generated by the assessors, and provided after the completion of the evalution.

Mentorship Program

Mentorship Program

Description: Students enter the program and start completing a series of seven task books. The students regularly meet with their mentors at CTMC, who evaluate the progress made at each stage. At the end of the program, recommendations are made to the company for entrance into one of the formal study programs on offer - or for the booking of a level III assessment course / oral, whichever is applicable.

Content: MARPOL, SOLAS, Marine Engines, Electrical Systems, General Shipboard Systems, Marine Steam Systems.
